Bequests are the most popular type of planned gifts. Simple bequest language could include: “I give the sum of $____________ in cash [or “I give _______% of the residue of my estate] to Avondale House, located in Houston, Texas, for its charitable purposes.”
Special Gifts – Stock, Life Insurance and Retirement Plan Assets
Making a gift of securities to us offers you a chance to help our organization while realizing many important tax benefits for yourself. Contributions of life insurance can provide a substantial gift to Avondale House. Consider donating a paid-up policy that is no longer needed to provide for your heirs or changing you policy’s beneficiary to support our work. A life insurance gift may allow you to support us more generously than you thought possible while providing you with significant income and estate tax benefits. Coordinating retirement planning and charitable giving can be especially beneficial if you have accumulated substantial retirement assets and wish to reduce income and estate taxes. For all of these special gifts, please consult your financial advisor, tax specialist, or estate-planning attorney to maximize benefits to both you and Avondale House.
