Texans Care Volunteer Day, Community SupportHouston Texans
Our sincerest gratitude goes out to the Houston Texans and all the fans who participated in the first-ever Texans Care Volunteer Day on May 11! More than 30 fans chose Avondale House as their volunteer site, as did two of the team's cheerleaders and its long snapper, Jon Weeks. The volunteers cleaned windows, detailed agency vehicles, and threw a great carnival party for students, families and friends of Avondale.
ExxonMobil

We thank the more than 60 employees from ExxonMobil’s Geoscience Division who spent a Day of Caring completing numerous projects at Avondale House! This enthusiastic group assembled basketball goals and a tetherball pole, organized our school library, repainted the playground’s hopscotch grid, overhauled and cleaned our storage room, spruced up some of our landscaping, and helped our students tie dye t-shirts.

A group of sixth grade students from The Kinkaid School spent the morning of February 26 assisting our students with a painting project. Together, they created works of art using all the colors of the rainbow that will be showcased at Avondale's annual luncheon on March 18. Thank you, Kinkaid!
Episcopal High School

Students from Episcopal High School spent two weeks of the new year volunteering in Avondale's day school. The volunteers worked closely with our students, teaching science and Texas history lessons. Thank you, EHS, for your dedicated and continuous support!

PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP

The kind "elves" from PWC provided gifts for all of Avondale's students and clients at a Christmas party on December 21. PWC employees shopped for and organized the presents, and helped Santa distribute them to all our good boys and girls. The company also purchased an iPad for use in our classrooms. Thank you, PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, for your continued generosity!
ValvTechnologies, Inc.

The warm-hearted employees at ValvTechnologies, Inc. hosted a Christmas party for our group home residents on December 17. The group provided pizza and cupcakes, live singing, and gifts for each resident to unwrap. We are deeply grateful for ValvTech's generosity, which has ensured that our residents have this special holiday event for nearly two decades.

Four members of Kinkaid's middle school choir, along with instructor Debbie Stark, visited Avondale House December 14 to perform Christmas and holiday songs for our staff and students during lunch. Thank you, Kinkaid, for sharing your talents with Avondale this season!
Marathon Oil Company

Marathon Oil Company spent not one, but two days to make improvements to two of Avondale's group homes. The volunteers remulched flower beds, trimmed bushes, weeded, removed dead plants and planted new shrubbery. The goup also cleaned gutters, siding, and backyard decks. Some particularly handy volunteers built a new enclosed flower bed to surround one of the yard's trees. Thank you, Marathon, for choosing to work hard for Avondale House!
