ExxonMobil visited Avondale for another great Day of Caring on October 25. Employees of their human resources department brought a variety of colorful supplies to make hand puppets with our students. Each class made puppets to act out different nursery rhymes and children's stories, such as "The Three Little Pigs." Thank you for your creativity and craftiness, ExxonMobil!

Nearly 50 students from Avondale House and The Kinkaid School met to explore the Houston Zoo together on October 16. The students broke out into three small groups and Kinkaid students acted as guides and zoo buddies to Avondale's students. Everyone had a great time, and we are always thankful to Kinkaid for their warm and friendly attitudes!
Hardworking employees of ConocoPhillips spent a Day of Caring at two of Avondale's group homes. The volunteers tackled landscaping work, painting, power washing, tree planting, fence repairing and window cleaning, among other tasks. Thank you, ConocoPhillips!
Volunteers from Faithful Paws, along with their docile dogs, have started monthly visits to Avondale House. These therapy dogs are the perfect pals to show unconditional love to our students, while also teaching them about the responsibilities of caring for a pet.
We thank the more than 30 staff and interns from ExxonMobil’s Development Company who spent another Day of Caring completing numerous projects at Avondale House! This time, the ExxonMobil Development Company performed maintenance on our three residential group homes, where a total of 18 of our clients live. Volunteers completed basic front and back yard maintenance, installed a new emergency food pantry, cleaned and waxed wood flooring, and re-painted exterior door frames and the interior walls of one home's garage. Avondale House is so grateful for the kind hearts and helping hands of our volunteers!
Our sincerest gratitude goes out to the Houston Texans and all the fans who participated in the first-ever Texans Care Volunteer Day on May 11! More than 30 fans chose Avondale House as their volunteer site, as did two of the team's cheerleaders and its long snapper, Jon Weeks. The volunteers cleaned windows, detailed agency vehicles, and threw a great carnival party for students, families and friends of Avondale.
We thank the more than 60 employees from ExxonMobil’s Geoscience Division who spent a Day of Caring completing numerous projects at Avondale House! This enthusiastic group assembled basketball goals and a tetherball pole, organized our school library, repainted the playground’s hopscotch grid, overhauled and cleaned our storage room, spruced up some of our landscaping, and helped our students tie dye t-shirts.

A group of sixth grade students from The Kinkaid School spent the morning of February 26 assisting our students with a painting project. Together, they created works of art using all the colors of the rainbow that will be showcased at Avondale's annual luncheon on March 18. Thank you, Kinkaid!
|Episcopal High School |
Students from Episcopal High School spent two weeks of the new year volunteering in Avondale's day school. The volunteers worked closely with our students, teaching science and Texas history lessons. Thank you, EHS, for your dedicated and continuous support!
