Community-Based Instruction (CBI)

Community-Based Instruction gives Avondale students the opportunity to generalize socialization, manners and life skills in real-life settings. Classes have social skills training in community settings like restaurants, museums and parks, where the students are able to practice meeting new people, ordering food, buying tickets, and implementing proper manners. These activities are aimed at giving students the tools and skills necessary to feel comfortable in public settings and work toward accomplishing tasks that most of us take for granted.

Morning Announcements

Each morning, two day school students read announcements, weather reports and an inspirational quote over the loud speaker.
